Step 1: Sign Up
Go to the dedicated page for selling clothes to get started.
You’re going to do the free trial that way you can fully test it without paying.
Just enter your email address or hit the “start free trial”
Step 2: Do The Sign Up Process (It’s Fast)
As your signing up you are going to answer a few questions about your store.
Make sure to answer these so Shopify can assist you even more.
It’s about 3-4 anyways and should make your life even easier.
Step 3: Build Out A Theme For Your Clothing Store
Yup, you’re already going to have your clothing website structure up in about 3 minutes
So, look in the middle on your dashboard which will make your life a ton easier.
Look for where it says “design your store”
Look at that middle arrow in this picture.
So once you click that, now you will see this.
Now enter a prompt for your clothing store and what it’s about.
Keep it vague like you see or enter a detailed one.
After doing that, generate your custom theme.
You will then get multiple designs for your clothing store to start building.
You can re-hit generate themes if needed to get more ideas.
It will look like this.
Once you like one, hover over it and select “try theme” which will upload it for you and create that theme for your store.
You will see just above this section it loading and just have to wait for it to be built then hit “customize” to make it how you like it.
You will see publish too, which you can make it live once you have it set up your way.
Step 4: Add A Product
Adding one of your clothing products is super simple.
And there are multiple ways to do this but let’s exit from the theme which is at the top
Then on the left side select “products” -> add product
From here you will be on this page
So first open up the side kick which is a little face on the top right or should be
This will help you wite out our first product.
Once it’s has done that you can hit preview and it will add it right into your store.
You obviously can type in there too but with AI you can make the process even faster.
Step 5: Set up your store setting for your clothing store
Look right in the middle and set up your store settings that they walk you through.

- Setting up Shopify payments
- Set up and confirm shipping rates
- Name your clothing store
- Pick a plan you want. If you do, most likely just do the Basic Plan
Step 6: Now place a test order for your new clothing store

Deactivate Bogus Gateway:
- After testing, return to Settings > Payments.
- Click Manage next to (for testing) Bogus Gateway and select Deactivate.
2. Using Shopify Payments Test Mode
If you’re using Shopify Payments, you can enable test mode to simulate transactions.
Enable Test Mode:
- Go to Settings > Payments in your Shopify admin.
- Under Shopify Payments, click Manage.
- In the Test mode section, check Enable test mode and save.
Place a Test Order:
- Visit your store and add a product to the cart.
- At checkout, use the following test credit card details:

Basically this is in place because you don’t want people accessing it while you’re creating it.
