Hosting a website with FatCow Web Hosting is easy and affordable.
FatCow offers free domain names, including .com, .net, .org and .info domains, as well as more than 50 other extensions.
You can also get your own custom domain if you’d like to create an online presence that’s unique to your business or personal brand.
Choose a hosting package.
Now that you’ve got a domain name, it’s time to make sure your website is hosted properly.
Hosting is the service that allows a website to be viewed online by others in real time.
If you’re just starting out and don’t need much space or bandwidth, choose the Basic Plan for $4.95 per month (billed annually).
It includes all of the essentials: unlimited domains, email accounts and storage space; plus one-click WordPress installation and automatic backup protection!
If this sounds like too much (or not enough), there are three higher tiers available–the Plus Package ($7/mo), Premium ($8/mo) and Ultimate ($9/mo)–which offer additional features such as enhanced security measures or SSL certificates (more on these later).
Once again we recommend going with FatCow because they offer competitive pricing while still providing excellent customer service should something go wrong with their servers.”
Create a username and password for administration.
Once you’ve signed up for an account, it’s time to create a username and password.
You can use the same username and password as your FTP account if you wish; however, we recommend creating a unique set of credentials for this purpose as well.
It’s also possible to use the same login information that you use for email accounts with FatCow Web Hosting–this is especially convenient if there are multiple people working on a site together!
Install WordPress.
WordPress is a free and open source content management system (CMS) based on PHP and MySQL.
It’s easy to use, but it can also be customized to suit your needs.
To get started with WordPress:
- Log in to your FatCow account. If you don’t have an account yet, sign up for one now!
- Select “WordPress” from the Web Hosting menu on your Dashboard page or click here: https://my.fatcow/cpanel/webhosting/wpinstall/?a=0&p=1
Choose a theme.
After you’ve chosen a hosting plan, it’s time to choose a theme.
Themes are what give your site its look and feel, so it’s important to pick one that matches both your business and brand.
You also want to make sure the theme fits with the content on your website–if there’s no connection between these things, visitors won’t understand why they’re there or what information they can expect from visiting.
Finally, consider ease of use when choosing a WordPress theme; some might be more difficult than others for first-time users who don’t know HTML or CSS (or even CSS).
Also keep in mind any plugins (additional software) that come with each individual theme package; this may affect whether or not those plugins will work properly with other third party programs like Google Analytics or MailChimp
Upload your content.
Once you’ve signed up and created your website, the next step is to upload your content.
To do this, go to “Content” in the left-hand menu and click on “Add New.”
You can then choose whether you want to add a page or post (the difference between these two is explained here).
Once your page has been created, it will appear in the list on the right side of the screen.
To edit it later on down the line, just click on its name in this list!
You’ll also notice that above each item there are some additional options:
- Add More Pages – This button allows you to add more pages onto your site if required; we recommend using this option if necessary as it makes managing all of them easier later on down the line when editing them individually becomes too much work for one person alone!
- Import Products – If selling products online through eCommerce software such as Shopify or WooCommerce then we highly recommend importing these into our site builder toolkit so they can be added automatically whenever someone visits (and buys!) from us instead having manually type out each product description every single time which would take forever!!
Add additional features, like a shopping cart or membership area.
You can also add other features to your website, such as an online store or membership area.
